Using the IOM Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) tools and methodologies, the project will support the systematic collection and analysis of migration flow data, and provide critical information on migrants’ locations, profile, vulnerability and needs, specifically in regard to the Turkish nationals. Building on more reliable and up-to-date information, relevant national institutions and humanitarian actors will be able to increase knowledge and skills for better risks profiling and migrant protection-sensitive response and improve the overall humanitarian and migration management response. IOM will build upon the existing operational capacities of the organization to undertake the assessment in a unified and systematic manner to provide reliable information on the current flow of migrants towards Europe.

 
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing

 
  1. The Consultant will contribute to the efforts of DTM team in Bosnia and Herzegovina 

Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • Under the overall supervision of DTM Regional Coordinator for the WB, and the direct supervision of the DTM Programme Data analyst, and DTM Field Assistant the consultant will support the efforts of DTM in Bosnia and Herzegovina in data collection, management. The tasks of this consultancy includes the following:

  •          Adhere to the principles and the laws of the organization.

  •           Be responsible to respect assessment deadlines as per IOM DTM guidelines;

  •           Examine and process data into simple forms in accordance with instructions and guidelines received;

  •         The service area covers locations within Bosnia and Herzegovina;

  •            To understand and assimilate all surveys and not to start working before receiving adequate training;

  •            To include all surveys approved by the DTM programme staff to be reported to the employee;

  •            To inform the DTM Field Officer (focal point) of any change or emergency about population movements in the geographical scope of work, or events that may affect the population for any reason;

  •             Investigate the sources of data to obtain reliable data by taking them from multiple sources to reach the most accurate results;

  •        To send surveys to the focal point and DTM BiH information management unit make sure of their arrival and follow up any observations laid by the supervisor on the surveys, and then correct and forward them;

  •          To adhere to the documents and securities of the organization;

  •        Perform any other duties assigned by direct supervisor.

     

 
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
  • Sound contribution the data collection process, with specific focus on Key Flow Monitoring points in Republika Srpska, Flow Monitoring Surveys, Migrant Presence Surveys and other ad-hoc surveys.

Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • Experience in field data collection, interviews

  • Knowledge of English language is required (oral and written)

  • Knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, Turkish or Pashto language is an advantage

  • Previous experience in working with migrants and for an international organization is a plus.

 

For this consultancy, working knowledge of English and local languages (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) is required. Knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, Turkish or Pashto language is an advantage

Responsibilities

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work. 

Any offer made to the candidate in relation to this vacancy notice is subject to funding confirmation.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, security clearances.
