Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Cyprus and, in collaboration with relevant units in the Country Office (CO), at Headquarters (HQ), Regional and Subregional Office, the National Programme Officer – Regular Pathways and Integration will be responsible and accountable for supporting, coordinating, helping oversee and develop the CO’s programme portfolio in the area of Regular Pathways and Integration.
1.Support the CoM in the development, coordination and monitoring of the operational, administrative and financial aspects of the projects in the areas of Regular Pathways and Integration in accordance with IOM policies and practices as well as donor’s requirements.
2.Keep the supervisor informed on the status of projects implementation. Identify gaps and suggest actions to improve implementation.
3.Support the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) tools and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
4.Coordinate the collection, verification and analysis of data and background information; update information management systems and social media platforms on project related activities including project awareness and visibility, summaries, press releases and other relevant materials.
5.Coordinate timely preparation and dissemination of project reports in accordance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
6.Liaise and coordinate with donors, partners, United Nations (UN) agencies, local authorities and stakeholders and government counterparts.
7.Contribute to the planning, development, organisation and delivery of capacity building activities targeting IOM staff, government and civil society partners, implementing partners and communities.
8.Attend relevant conferences, workshops, working groups, interagency coordination meetings, and other forums.
9.Support the preparation of project proposals and a diverse range of communication products, concept notes and other planning documents.
10.Supervise and provide training and technical guidance to project staff.
11.Undertake duty travel relating to project implementation, monitoring visits, project assessments, liaison with counterparts, etc.
12.Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- In depth knowledge of migration related issues and government institutions working in the area of migration in Cyprus;
- Knowledge and experience in project development, implementation, reporting and fundraising;
- Knowledge of IOM digital platforms, computer/software literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office and AI tools;
- Knowledge of IOM guidelines, policies and approaches in the respective area;
- Demonstrated analytical skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely, demonstrated excellent writing and verbal communication skills;
- Attention to the detail and ability to organize; and,
- Self-motivated, objective-driven and able to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision.
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Greek is required (oral and written).
