Project Associate (Public Health)

The Public Health Unit (PHU) at International Organization for Migration (IOM) supports national and local health systems in Lebanon through the implementation of public health interventions, emergency preparedness and response, disease surveillance, community outreach, health promotion, border health, and health system strengthening activities. PHU works in close coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Lebanon, health sector partners, United Nations (UN) agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), health facilities, implementing partners, and other relevant stakeholders to support continuity of essential health services, strengthen preparedness and response capacities, and enhance access to healthcare services for vulnerable and affected populations across Lebanon.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes (HoP) in Lebanon and direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the Project Associate – Public Health will be responsible and accountable
for carrying out a range of technical and administrative tasks supporting the implementation and monitoring of projects under the PHU for timely and effective project delivery aligned with IOM rules and regulations.

1.Assist in the implementation and monitoring of public health project activities.
2.Retrieve, compile, summarise, analyse, and present information and data on public health projects and related areas.
3.Monitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information.
4.Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions.
5.Draft status reports, identify operational challenges and implementation gaps, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest remedial actions.
6.Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
7.Respond to complex information requests and inquiries, maintain project files and records, and support in organising meetings, workshops, training sessions and community engagement activities.
8.Participate in meetings, field visits and other coordination activities with local authorities, partners, healthcare providers, communities, UN agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, donors and other relevant stakeholders to provide timely updates to the supervisor.
9.Assist in monitoring the work of Implementing Partners (IP) and other service providers and report delays, gaps or non-compliances to the supervisor.
10.Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.
11.Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.

EDUCATION
•Bachelor’s degree in public health, nursing, health sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
•High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE
•Experience in implementing, monitoring and reporting on public health or humanitarian programmes;
•Experience supporting public health programmes, including healthcare access, communicable disease programming and community engagement;
•Experience collecting, verifying, compiling and presenting programme data and supporting the preparation of reports and other technical documentation;
•Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations;
•Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups; and,
•Prior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
