Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM)/DCoM in Iraq, general guidance of the Head of the Mobility Pathways and Inclusion Division, and the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer (Migration Governance), the Senior Project Assistant will bear responsibility and accountability for the following tasks:

  1. Independently lead and coordinate the implementation of the project; monitor implementation of the activities to ensure work is proceeding according to established plans; analyse implementation difficulties and make recommendations for adjusting implementation modalities and work plans to best reflect changing environment on the field. 

  2. Regularly research, follow-up, compile, analyse and present information/data on national, regional and international developments, reports, legislation and other relevant documentation, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties.

  3. Coordinate and monitor the financial, administrative and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.

  4. Plan, coordinate and conduct capacity building workshops for relevant internal and external parties.  

  5. Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project. 

  6. Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, narrative and financial reports; ensure status reports are prepared and submitted in a timely manner. 

  7. Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP), policies and concept papers and support the development of new projects. 

  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  9. Travel on duty to Iraq, based on the needs of the program.

Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in business management and administration, economics or in a related fieled from an accredited academic institution with 5 years of relevant professional experience

    • Completed High school degree from an accredited academic institution with 7 years of relevant professional experience.

       

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

  • Experience in audiovisual productions, publishing, and design.

    • Experience in the areas of Transitional Justice, Law enforcement, and community and international policing and project management and implementation.

    • Experience working with IOM and/or another UN agency is an advantage.

    • Experience in engaging with governmental representatives, police, civil society, and communities is highly desirable.

    • Experience in data management and information sharing is an advantage.

    • Delivers set objectives in hardship situations.

      • Effectively coordinates actions with other implementing partners.

      • Works effectively with local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance the country office or regional objective.

  • Flexibility, tolerance and capacity to work in a team.

    • High level of computer literacy, especially knowledge of Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Microsoft Office.

    • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

    • Teamwork and professionalism

For this position, fluency in English, Arabic, and Kurdish is required. 

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
