The Care Specialist is a field-based registered nurse who helps eligible patients understand and navigate approved resources related to their prescribed therapy. The role provides product and administration education, promotes health literacy and adherence to the prescribed treatment plan, and offers non-clinical education on health insurance, access pathways, and affordability resources. Through in-person, in-home, virtual, telephone, email, and appropriate community-based interactions, the Care Specialist supports patients across multiple therapeutic areas while protecting privacy, respecting individual choice, and promoting equitable access to support.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Deliver approved products, administration, disease-state, onboarding, adherence, and health-literacy education to patients prescribed designated therapies.
- →Educate patients and caregivers, within approved program parameters, on health insurance concepts, coverage processes, access pathways, and available affordability resources; connect patients with the appropriate approved services for individualized support.
- →Help patients understand and use approved support tools and resources, including enrollment, reimbursement-support, copay or affordability, and other access services for which they may be eligible, without guaranteeing coverage or financial assistance.
- →Encourage informed dialogue between patients and their healthcare providers and reinforce the treatment plan as prescribed.
- →Provide supplemental injection or administration training when appropriately trained and authorized.
- →Manage an assigned patient caseload and account geography, document interactions accurately and promptly, and coordinate across internal and external partners to support a consistent patient experience.
- →Contribute practical field insights to the development and continuous improvement of patient programs, educational plans and materials.
- →Manage travel and program expenses within applicable standards and complete all required company and service-provider training.
- →Perform other program-related responsibilities assigned by management and approved through established review processes.

Requirements

- Current, unrestricted Nurse license applicable to Puerto Rico (either LPN or RN).
- Current CPR certification active, or must be willing to get certified
- At least two years of professional experience in patient education, community outreach, case management, disease management, patient access, or another patient- or health-related field.
- Competency in injection or product-administration education, as applicable.
- Professional fluency in English and Spanish, including written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital case-management or documentation tools.
- Ability to meet the role’s travel and field-based requirements.
- Driving is required for this role. Reliable and well-maintained personal vehicle in safe operating condition, full coverage insurance, with a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a review of their driving record prior to hire.

- BA/BS degree, preferably in behavioral/social sciences, public health, or business-related disciplines
- Experience supporting patients across multiple therapeutic areas or complex treatment journeys.
- Working knowledge of healthcare coverage, reimbursement, patient assistance, affordability programs, and common access barriers.
- Experience partnering with healthcare organizations, community-based groups, or services supporting diverse or underserved populations.
- Experience managing a geographically dispersed caseload and collaborating in a cross-functional, regulated environment.
