Job Summary
The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of commercial real estate assets. This position maintains the books and records for a portfolio of approximately 10–12 properties, encompassing all ancillary accounting functions related to those assets.
Essential Duties
- Review and analyze property management financial reports across individual assets within the assigned portfolio.
- Collaborate with property accountants, banking personnel, and property managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee and execute cash management functions.
- Record, reconcile, and maintain the integrity of financial data.
- Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual client financial reports.
- Compile and prepare annual audit and tax work papers in support of external reporting requirements.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all asset-level bank accounts.
- Calculate and prepare statements of cash flows in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the commercial real estate industry
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of variance analysis, including actual-to-budget comparisons
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with MRI software is a plus
