Controller

• As the Controller at ISSA, reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for the oversight of all accounting and accounting operational activities. As a hands-on yet strategic leader, you will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while developing processes and utilizing technology to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the accounting cycle. You will partner with organizational leaders to drive implementation of new projects and ensure financial compliance across the organization.

• Develop team structure and roles required to support the accounting and accounting operations needs of the entire organization. Build Job Descriptions and related plans and work with Recruitment to fill open roles, as needed.
• Champion a culture of innovation and creativity to automate and find efficiencies and scalability opportunities
• Leadership and management of a high-performing team with focus on individual development, efficient prioritization, and delivery of high-quality output while meeting key deadlines

• Manage the accounting close processes and consolidations to meet internal and external deadlines
• Prepare financials in both GAAP and Bookings basis for internal and external audiences, meeting internal and external deadlines
• Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and lender covenants
• Coordinate and manage the annual audit and tax prep engagements and related required reporting
• Ensure and document appropriate internal controls and separation of duties

• Oversee cash management functions, treasury, and daily banking
• Maintain annual and 13-Week Cash Forecast and provide insights into variances between actual and forecast
• Oversee the Accounts Payable Function, including vendor management, 1099 reporting, accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments, and employee expense reports
• Oversee management of corporate credit card programs
• Oversee Accounts Receivable function as related to non-standard contracts

• Manage sales tax automation software
• Oversee Sales Tax Analysis and Assessment
• Guide the implementation and setup of ongoing registrations for all required tax filings, including income and payroll
• Design a process for continued monitoring and compliance with new tax and business registration requirements.
• Coordinate and manage annual income tax engagement
• Oversee accuracy and timeliness of all payroll-related filings, regulations, and compliance items

• Partner with the Technology team to design new processes across the order-to-cash phase of accounting to align with new technology solutions, up to and including identification of a new ERP
• Decrease days to close from 8 to 3
• Utilize technology to automate reconciliations, entries, and reporting
• Enhance efficiencies related to GAAP ASC 606 Revenue Recognition methodology and processes
• Provide strategic, implementation, and due diligence support related to M&A targets
• Migrate ownership of payroll function from HR to Finance and oversee payroll administration function

• 10+ years of relevant, progressive experience required, with 2+ years of experience as a Controller
• 3+ years of experience in public accounting with a “Big 8” firm, ideally in audit, preferred
• Experience in an eCommerce business environment with a deep understanding of performance marketing preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA required, MBA a plus
• Strong understanding of GAAP and IFRS
• Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve processes
• Experience managing financial systems selection and implementation/integration
• Experience with Private Equity ownership and M&A Transactions preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Jet Reports, and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus
• Highest standards of accuracy and precision as well as excellent organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate with different levels in the organization
• Ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences
• Strong work ethic and a high sense of urgency are required
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
• Self-starter who is intellectually curious and not afraid to seek out projects independently
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
