About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and student-centered Academic Advisor to join our School of Information Technology. In this role, you will provide developmental academic advising for new and continuing students using a case management approach. You will assist students in defining personal and academic career goals, interpreting and understanding placement scores, program curriculum and pre-requisites, and developing basic skills to register for courses, as appropriate. The Academic Advisor will refer students to appropriate internal and external resources that foster student success.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in zoom and Microsoft word and excel, with hands-on experience in higher education platforms.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and provide data-driven solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically, make decisions independently, and solve complex problems in a timely manner.
- Teamwork: Proven experience in collaborating effectively with diverse teams to achieve common goals.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and track progress in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to take initiative and step up for teammates and students when needed.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
- →Provide strong customer service and/or student advocacy as demonstrated through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, and desire to identify and support student success.
- →Use canvas and salesforce and internal Ivy Tech systems to assist with scheduling and maintaining accurate advising records.
- →Apply advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve student issues and situations.
- →Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, utilizing clear communication to ensure smooth workflow and project success.
- →Manage a caseload and communicate effectively via text, email, and phone.
- →Work in a fast-paced environment for new student advising and orientation events as well as continuing student events
