Manages the human resources function for the Ivy Tech Community College – Systems Office, with specific responsibilities for administration of: College policies and procedures, talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, legal compliance, classification and compensation, compliance training and talent development, onboarding, benefits, and HRIS (Workday). Primarily responsible for the implementation of human resources programs that support College goals and objectives, operating within established timelines and budgets. The position is accountable for Systems Office human resources department operations and administration.

Responsibilities

  • →Provides operational oversight for the HR function within the Systems Office, ensuring alignment with College-wide HR policies and objectives.
  • →Directs the end-to-end hiring process for Systems Office positions, ensuring a positive and efficient recruitment experience; this may include screening, scheduling, and managing the interview process on behalf of hiring managers.
  • →Oversees and maintains all employee records, including salary, classification, position management, evaluation, and benefits data, in coordination with the Benefits and Leaves hub. Ensures accuracy and validity of employee information entered into Workday.
  • →Leads the orientation and initial onboarding of new Systems Office employees, ensuring a seamless integration into the College and timely completion of all required processes and trainings. Supports managers in developing onboarding and on-the-job training plans.
  • →Manages key transactional responsibilities related to hiring and offboarding employees. This includes analyzing reports such as employee engagement survey data and exit interview survey data and recommending and implementing enhancements to improve the employee experience.
  • →Supports managers with routine HR business partner responsibilities, including guidance on performance management, employee relations, leave administration, ADA accommodations, and other HR compliance matters.
  • →In collaboration with the Systems Office HR HUB partners, leaves of absence, benefits administration, and wellness programs for staff.
  • →Works with the Employee Engagement and Talent Development team to support professional development initiatives and training programs, tracking completion and outcomes.
  • →Directs and ensures timely completion of annual performance reviews and annual job description updates. This includes drafting employee communications and partnering with the Ivy Tech Communications team for distribution.
  • →Provides guidance to Systems Office supervisors and employees on HR issues, performance concerns, and employee relations matters.
  • →Serves as the primary Systems Office HR representative in Unemployment Insurance and other regulatory or legal proceedings, coordinating with College Counsel as needed.
  • →Participates in the planning and execution of employee recognition programs in coordination with the Systems Office HR team.
  • →Implements and enforces employment policies and operating procedures in accordance with College guidelines.
  • →Performs other routine HR business partner tasks, including effectively managing personnel files, and responding to data requests, unemployment inquiries, and ad hoc HR operational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; professional certification preferred.
  • Three years’ work experience in a human resources department.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources administration required.
  • Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflicts, and have excellent problem-solving, decision-making, decision making and written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires a highly self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership abilities and a hands-on approach to analyze, develop, and administer HR programs in a complex organization.
  • Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Must have a strong customer service focus and service delivery approach and be able and willing to travel.
