First Shift Journeyman Machinist

Jagemann's precision tool room is hiring a Journeyman Machinist to operate advanced machining equipment on critical tooling components. You'll work in a temperature-controlled environment using precision measuring equipment to verify dimensional accuracy while managing machining parameters to maintain surface finish specifications.

Core Machining Operations:

• →Set up and operate manual and precision grinding machines to process parts per specifications
• →Plan work sequences and determine cutting parameters (feeds, speeds, depths)
• →Work to close tolerances using precision measuring instruments

Programming & Setup:

• →Write and edit CNC programs
• →Calculate dimensional relationships and input data to machine controllers
• →Develop custom holding fixtures and soft jaws for non-standard parts

Tool & Equipment Management:

• →Select appropriate cutting tools and manage tool inventory
• →Perform routine preventive maintenance on CNC equipment
• →Sharpen non-insert tools as needed

Material Expertise:

• →Machine hardened steels, carbide, and other specialty materials
• →Adjust speeds, feeds, and tooling based on material characteristics

Training & Support:

• →Mentor CNC operators and apprentices
• →Provide troubleshooting guidance and occasional multi-machine oversight

Maintenance & Safety:

• →Keep work areas clean and organized
• →Follow all EHS procedures and collaborate with vendors on tooling needs

• High school diploma plus machining or metalworking training
• Mazak programming certification
• Partial completion of company-specified Machine Tool Operation curriculum
• CAD/CAM and Solutionware training
• 1–3 years of toolroom and CNC machining experience
• Proficiency in CNC setup and operation
• Strong knowledge of material machining characteristics
• Attention to detail and ability to hold close tolerances
• Familiarity with Environmental Health & Safety procedures
