MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - JBS ONTARIO

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the facility. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance operations within the facility to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and food safety standards. This role provides leadership, coaching, and development to unionized maintenance employees while managing preventative and corrective maintenance programs, employee scheduling, performance management, and departmental budgets. The Maintenance Supervisor promotes a strong culture of health and safety, and works closely with production teams to support quality, customer service, and operational goals. Through effective leadership and planning, the position helps drive continuous improvement, equipment performance, and overall business success.

• Foster a strong culture of health and safety, ensuring safe work practices are embedded in all maintenance activities.
• Operate in accordance with CFIA & Health Canada, AG Canada policies, HACCP requirements, and all applicable food safety, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards.
• Supervise, coach, and train unionized maintenance employees to support production requirements and ensure the effective operation of equipment while meeting company objectives related to quality, efficiency, customer service, and the Brand Promise.
• Oversee preventative and routine maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Achieve departmental operating budgets and control maintenance-related costs.
• Coordinate employee scheduling, performance management, attendance tracking, disciplinary processes, and performance evaluations, addressing issues promptly and consistently.
• Foster a positive and safe workplace culture by ensuring compliance with all Workplace Safety & Health legislation, company safety programs, and safe work practices.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the maintenance department.
• Provide strong leadership and set a positive example for maintenance and production teams, supporting the achievement of production, financial, and strategic goals.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, applicable provincial legislation, and the collective agreement with UFCW.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Post-secondary degree/diploma, and/or possession of Journeyman certification in a related field, supplemented by more than 5+ years of progressive related engineering, maintenance and management experience.
• Experience within the manufacturing sector, and particularly within the food or meat processing sector is required.
• Management experience, preferably within a unionized manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of related regulations and legislation including WHMIS, labour relations, conflict resolution and communication is essential.
• Advanced analytical skills and use of MicroSoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and project management software.

$100,000 - $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience
