Jem is hiring a Marketing Campaign Manager to own the Jem Mobile campaigns calendar end-to-end. Jem is a fast-growing HR tech scale-up building payroll, HR, and benefits tools for frontline teams, currently supporting just under 200,000 frontline employees across South Africa.

Jem Mobile is one of our fastest-growing product lines, putting affordable airtime, data and devices into the hands of frontline workers through payroll deduction.


This is a hybrid role that sits across planning, copywriting, content creation and customer journey design. You'll own the plan, the content and the journey. You won't just run the calendar, you'll fill it with ideas worth running, measure what works and sharpen the customer experience quarter on quarter.

The role suits someone who's commercially curious, ideas-rich and rhythm-driven. Likely a young agency person ready for multi-client breadth inside a single high-growth product, with real room to grow inside Jem.

⭐️ Your Mission

  • Own the Jem Mobile campaigns calendar from quarterly ideation through to weekly execution
  • Turn campaign and sales data into customer experience improvements that drive growth, retention and ARPU

⭐️ What Success Looks Like

  • A new campaign is live in market every fortnight
  • The Ideas Bank is never empty, with at least one new idea added per fortnight
  • Each quarter, the customer journey is measurably sharper than the last
  • Campaign performance is tracked, reported and actioned weekly
  • Marketing, CSM and Ops stay aligned to the 11th to 10th cycle without dropped handoffs

⭐️ What You'll Do

Quarterly planning and ideation across WhatsApp, on-site and contact centre:

  • Run quarterly ideation sessions, reviewing last quarter's results and locking themes
  • Bring fully-formed campaign concepts into each session, not just facilitate
  • Map public holidays, paydays and cultural moments into the quarter
  • Confirm employer pipeline, new joiner and existing employee plans with CSM leads
  • Prioritise campaigns, assign them to months and write concept briefs

Campaign content creation:

  • Write every WhatsApp send across Group A and Group B, switching between Education tone (W1, W2) and Promo / PayDay / New Joiner tone (W3, W4)
  • Write on-site agent scripts and 5 to 8pm remote agent call scripts that match each fortnight's campaign
  • Brief design with clear message hierarchy, audience, tone and mandatory elements
  • Run light Canva and Figma iteration without waiting for the design queue
  • Produce short-form video and social content when needed
  • Maintain the Jem Mobile voice and tone guardrails
  • Keep the Ideas Bank alive with input from customer conversations, sales data, competitor moves and cultural shifts

Monthly execution and weekly reporting:

  • Run the standard 4-week campaign plan inside the 11th to 10th CSM permission window
  • Friday performance review every week on conversion, revenue and engagement
  • Compare actuals against quarterly KPI targets and flag variances early
  • Content-level reporting on which copy, hook and script outperformed
  • Design A/B tests on copy, offer framing and timing

  • Can sit down and generate 10 distinct on-brief campaign concepts in one go
  • Write WhatsApp copy that sounds like a person, not a brand
  • Are comfortable writing in customer-first South African voice with awareness of the employer-employee dynamic Jem operates in
  • Read a sales, cancellation or ARPU dashboard and pull a story from it
  • Map customer journeys end-to-end and prioritise fixes by impact
  • Are AI-forward and comfortable building with AI tools in the workflow
  • Hold Marketing, CSM and Ops to a shared timeline without becoming the bottleneck
  • Care whether the copy is good, not just whether it's done
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity in a still-scaling product


⭐️ Requirements

Minimum:

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in campaign management, content marketing, CRM marketing or agency account management
  • Strong copywriting portfolio across short-form channels (WhatsApp, SMS, email or social)
  • Hands-on experience with CRM or campaign tooling, including segmentation, scheduling and A/B testing
  • Comfort in Google Sheets with pivots, lookups and basic cohort views
  • Light design tooling proficiency in Canva or Figma
  • Experience briefing designers and reviewing artwork against a brief

Nice to have:

  • Short-form video and social content production
  • Experience in fintech, telco, FMCG or other high-volume B2C campaigning
  • Exposure to payroll-deduct or frontline worker markets
  • Experience managing parallel workstreams across multiple internal stakeholders
