DPDS (Discovery, Pharmaceutical Development & Supply) is the molecular invention engine for Janssen, where people are passionate about being the fastest at translating the best ideas into outstanding therapies for patients. DPDS partners with other global functions to deliver sustained product innovation from target identification through end-of-product life across all therapeutic modalities, including Small Molecules, Proteins, RNA Therapy, Gene Therapy & Cell Therapy.

We are looking for a motivated student to join our Discovery Chemistry team for an internship in Analytical Chemistry and High-Throughput Purification.

As part of the Chemistry Capabilities, Analytical and Purification (CCAP) team, you will support the analysis and purification of newly synthesized molecules and peptides used in drug discovery programs. Working with advanced HPLC, LC-MS, and automated purification platforms, you will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art technologies and real-world pharmaceutical research. Following your training, you will contribute to laboratory activities, explore innovative chromatographic methods, and help improve purification efficiency and separation performance.

• →Work together with a group of highly motivated scientists in a pioneering laboratory in the Discovery Chemistry department at J&J.
• →Contribute to analysis and purification of small molecules and peptides to support drug discovery programs.
• →Explore news ways to advance resolution in preparative chromatography.
• →After an initial training and introduction in the department, able to independently operate and propose alternatives or solutions for challenging analytical problems.

• Strong theoretical and practical background in analytical chemistry.
• Basic understanding of chromatography fundamentals.
• Familiarity with reversed-phase LC-MS is preferred.
• Highly motivated and open attitude to operate and learn in a dynamic scientific environment, both independent and as part of a team.
• Fast learner, independent & critical thinker.
• Able to efficiently work with common software packages like Office 365, SciFinder, …
• Basic knowledge of chromatography software Masslynx or other analytical data software is a plus.

• You must remain enrolled as a student throughout the internship.
• Graduates who are no longer enrolled are unfortunately not eligible for this internship.
• The internship can only start if your school agrees to sign the standardized Johnson & Johnson Belgium internship agreement. External agreements cannot be accepted.
