We are seeking a motivated and versatile Co-op student for our Software Test Engineer role at Abiomed, starting in January 2027. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and gain hands-on experience in software testing for medical devices, specifically using Pytest and other in-house tools for end-to-end testing. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about ensuring high-quality software and eager to learn and grow in a dynamic environment. 

• →Test Automation: Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using tools such as Pytest and others for end-to-end testing of medical device software

• →Test Planning: Collaborate with developers and QA team members to understand application requirements and design comprehensive test plans.

• →Bug Identification: Identify, document, and track software defects and issues, and work closely with the development team to resolve them.

• →Engage in Code Quality Assurance: Participate in code reviews and walkthroughs to ensure code quality and to align with industry standards. 

• →Test Execution: Perform manual and automated testing to ensure application functionality, performance, and security.

• →Test Reporting: Generate and review test reports and provide insights and recommendations for improvements based on test results.

• →Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of test processes and methodologies and stay up to date with the latest testing tools and techniques.

• Junior, Senior, or Grad student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or related field. 

• Coursework in electrical engineering, signals and systems, and embedded devices is a plus

• Technical Skills: Familiarity with automated test frameworks such as Pytest is essential

• Database Knowledge: Understanding database concepts and experience with SQL-based databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL databases.

• Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, Rust, Python, or JavaScript 

• Version Control: Experience with version control systems, particularly Git. 

• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to learning and adapting. 

• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate optimally in a team environment. 

• Project Experience: Proven experience through coursework, personal projects, or previous internships. Contributions to open-source projects or a personal portfolio are a plus. 

• Experience with Software Testing: Previous experience or coursework in Software development or testing projects. 

• Familiarity with Agile Methodologies: Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies is advantageous. 

• Interest in Emerging Technologies: Passion for learning about and working with new technologies and tools. 

• Experience with Embedded Software involving Low Level Languages such as C, C++, Rust, Go is a plus
