Lead Packer (1st Shift)

Scope: Skilled knowledge of product lines. Employee is able to perform all tasks without guidance or supervision and will provide training and support to other peers. To aid in the training, processes, and procedures for all employees in the Packing Department. Key member for inventory. Institute the direction and goals of the Shift Supervisor to maintain yield, efficiency, quality, cleanliness, and safety. Key Responsibilities: Emphasize policy, procedures, and culture consistent with the Shift Supervisor’s direction that control and improve: production yield and efficiency of facility against standard safety leadership cleanliness food safety and quality adherence to SOP’s employee ownership and understanding of product and process and overall teambuilding employee welfare Continuously takes independent action, perform the daily paperwork, and provide corrective action recommendations to the Production Manager in the areas of: safety quality cleanliness yield & efficiency Maintains their area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner Enforces company rules in a fair and consistent manner Reports broken or inoperable equipment to the Shift Supervisor Reports unsafe equipment or areas Shift Supervisor. Take immediate correction action if warranted. Initiates the start of the lines on time Effects Changeovers in a timely fashion Schedules labor for full time and agency employees Works with the temporary labor provider to fill daily shortages Reports time and attendance infractions to the Shift Supervisor Maintains strong interdepartmental communication that facilitates goals Reports recommended changes to written production standards/specifications to reflect actual process to the Shift Supervisor Adheres to all environmental, health and safety requirements and procedures Responsible for food safety and quality Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Verifies throughout the shift: Adherence to the written production specifications and formulas efficiency (cases per hour); yield (cases per lb); process documents are in compliance, are accurate, and in the proper frequency; employees are in specified areas and labor has met specification guidelines; breaks and lunches are timely and in accordance with the shift and cleanliness Develops subordinates’ ability to understand, manage, and affect the department in a positive professional way by ensuring that all employees (as required) have been trained in the areas of: OSHA regulated programs Food Defense, GMP’s, HAACP, CCP Procedures Quality Cleanliness Communicable Disease Policy Reading and understanding production specifications Understanding and recording of data on process documents Position Requirements: Math and reading skills Ability to lift, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods of time Regular and reliable attendance
