The Role
We are seeking a Planning & Consenting Manager to join our East Coast Forestry team based in Gisborne.
This is a key technical role responsible for leading harvest planning, resource consenting, environmental risk assessment, and regulatory compliance activities across JNL's East Coast forestry operations. You will work closely with operational teams, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure forestry operations are well planned, compliant, and delivered efficiently.
This is a permanent full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead harvest planning activities to support JNL's woodflow and operational programmes.
- Prepare resource consent applications, NES-CF notifications, and associated technical documentation.
- Undertake environmental risk assessments relating to erosion, slash management, freshwater, and operational activities.
- Monitor and support compliance with consent conditions and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with councils, regulators, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Provide practical technical advice and support to forestry operations teams.
- Maintain GIS and planning records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
To Succeed in This Role, You Will Have
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Forestry, Forest Engineering, Environmental Planning, Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience in harvest planning, forestry consenting, environmental planning, or a similar technical forestry role.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand forestry regulations and resource consent processes.
- Practical knowledge of harvesting operations, engineering, erosion management, environmental compliance, and freshwater protection.
- Experience using GIS systems and working with councils, contractors, and operational teams.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A practical and solution-focused approach with the ability to influence and engage others.
- A current full New Zealand driver's licence.
