The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University Is seeking a full-time OPD Clinic Manager / TH Senior Staff Assistant, Suite R. The successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for the daily management and supervision of the Registrars.
- Provide adequate staffing complement to ensure that there are no delays with patient care/flow.
- Monitor reports to ensure all corrections are updated in Eagle/AIIScript within the 7-day window billing period.
- Ensure continuous training of staff on registration protocol and billing updates.
- Review accounts for appropriate referrals/authorizations to ensure maximum reimbursement to the hospital.
- Monitor daily reconciliation of encounter forms/visit detail listing report.
- Determine staffing needs in clinics/suites/satellite areas to facilitate patient flow.
- Monitor and act as focus of communication OPD lo ensure efficient coordination of the department's activities.
- Communicate all pertinent information to staff and educate staff on policy and procedure.
- Ensure data quality: monitor fail bill report and daily visit error report lo ensure data Is corrected in Eagle/AllScript and ensure staff is educated on errors to reduce the hospital’s accounts receivable.
- Review charts/accounts to ensure Registrars are closing visits at time of service or within 48 hours of visit with the appropriate diagnosis/procedure code.
- Monitor, train and educate staff on all regulatory insurance and health care changes related to their functions and ensure policy and procedure are followed.
- Ensure that patients receive information pertaining to their rights to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations such as HIPAA compliance, NOP, Bill of Rights, Advance Directives.
- Provide support to and consult with the Director on all outstanding issues and activities that have impact on departmental operations.
- Conduct scheduled monthly staff meetings.
- Provide Data collection for statistical purposes and to coordinate work flow.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Physicians and Director, the activities of the clinics/suites.
- Complete projects and assignments in timeframe allotted and provide feedback to the Director.
Requirements

- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.
- Prior experience with healthcare/hospital medical billing.
- Knowledge of third-party insurance.
- Or, a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Variable Days; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)
