Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 12:00am to 8:00am


Job Summary: The Transportation Maintenance Technician assists in maintaining and repairing parking deck gates. Maintains parking facilities and Campus roadways. Facilitates traffic flow within the University. Installs and maintains traffic and parking signage, pavement markings, and regulatory markings on curbs and sidewalks. Assists with Athletic and other special events on Campus.


Additional Department Summary: May be required to work a different schedule on weeks with home football games.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of maintenance, warehouse, or construction experience; OR post-secondary school training in mechanical or electronic repair and one (1) year of maintenance, warehouse, or construction experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated basic mathematical skills. Ability to read, write, and follow both verbal and written instructions. Ability to work effectively outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions. Ability to develop and maintain familiarity with locations, facilities, and infrastructure across the campus. Ability to learn and utilize University- and department-specific software applications, systems, and equipment. Ability to learn and perform basic mechanical and electronic maintenance and repairs on parking access control systems and parking deck gate equipment. Proficiency in the safe operation and use of job-related tools, equipment, and materials. Ability to lift and carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds, including, but not limited to, bags of Sakrete and Cold Patch, temporary traffic signs, street signs, barriers, and traffic barricades. Ability to work different schedules and extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Preferred Qualifications: Certified forklift operator. Experience with mechanical/electronic troubleshooting and repairs. Two (2) or more years of work experience in maintenance, working outdoors, warehouse, retail, stocking/receiving, construction, or other manual labor role.
