As an Accounting Manager, you will oversee core accounting operations and financial reporting for a growing, multi-site clinical research organization. Reporting to the Controller, you will lead month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, accounts payable operations, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal control standards. You will play a key role in managing outsourced and offshore accounting resources, coordinating workflows, monitoring performance, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability. Working closely with finance leaders, operational stakeholders, auditors, and external service providers, you will help strengthen financial processes and support informed business decisions. You will also contribute to acquisitions, system implementations, automation initiatives, and scalable accounting practices as the organization expands. This fully remote, full-time opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership, analytical thinking, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Lead the monthly financial close process, including reviewing prepaid expenses, fixed assets, expense accruals, journal entries, and other close-related activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and established deadlines.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure reconciling items are resolved promptly and accurately.
  • Manage account reconciliations, close tasks, and certifications through FloQast, supporting broader system adoption to improve efficiency, accountability, and internal control effectiveness.
  • Supervise offshore accounts payable representatives employed through a third-party service provider, assigning and prioritizing tasks, monitoring service levels, resolving escalated issues, and ensuring adherence to accounting policies and approval controls.
  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor inquiries, payment execution, account reconciliations, and period-end cutoff procedures.
  • Monitor daily cash activity and support the accurate and timely application of client payments.
  • Prepare and review month-end financial reports, bank reporting, management reports, variance analyses, and supporting schedules to provide reliable financial insights.
  • Coordinate annual financial audits, respond to auditor requests, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure deliverables are completed within established timelines.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing accounting analysis and recommendations to finance leadership and operational stakeholders.
  • Assist with acquisition integrations by aligning accounting processes, validating opening balances, and incorporating newly acquired sites into existing systems and internal controls.
  • Lead or participate in special projects involving accounting process standardization, system implementations and migrations, automation, and improvements to accounting policies.
  • Develop, document, and monitor accounting procedures and internal controls, identifying opportunities to improve accuracy, scalability, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Coach and develop internal and outsourced accounting team members, establish clear performance expectations, provide constructive feedback, and support issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with executives, operational leaders, vendors, auditors, and third-party service providers to maintain effective communication and ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Perform additional accounting and financial responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives.
