Define and execute the organization's long-term vision, strategy, and growth priorities in alignment with its mission and the expectations of its board or founder.

Lead institutional development and organizational scaling, building on existing traction to expand reach, strengthen impact, and establish a sustainable operating model.

Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional funders, government stakeholders, board members, strategic partners, and other key decision-makers.

Lead multi-year fundraising strategies, secure institutional funding, and develop increasingly ambitious funding partnerships to support long-term organizational growth.

Oversee organizational performance, financial sustainability, resource allocation, and strategic priorities, ensuring that decisions support the organization's mission and long-term objectives.

Lead and develop large, geographically distributed teams, establishing a strong organizational culture, clear accountability, and effective collaboration in a fully remote environment.

Build a strong leadership team and succession pipeline, empowering senior leaders to take ownership of their functions and reducing organizational dependence on any single individual.

Establish effective governance practices and maintain transparent, productive relationships with the board, founder, funders, and other stakeholders.

Champion product-oriented thinking, technology adoption, and scalable operating models to improve organizational effectiveness and extend the reach of the organization's work.

Translate strategic ambitions into measurable objectives, performance indicators, and execution plans, ensuring that organizational growth delivers meaningful and sustainable impact.

Represent the organization externally, communicating its mission, achievements, strategic direction, and funding priorities to influential stakeholders and potential partners.

Navigate organizational complexity and change with sound judgment, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term institution-building priorities.

Requirements

Extensive senior leadership experience, ideally as a CEO, executive director, managing director, or equivalent executive responsible for leading an entire organization rather than an individual function.

Demonstrated success leading large, distributed teams and building a cohesive organizational culture across remote or geographically dispersed working environments.

A strong track record of securing institutional funding over multiple years, including experience growing fundraising commitments and cultivating long-term relationships with major funders.

Established credibility with institutional funders, government representatives, boards, founders, and other senior stakeholders, with a demonstrated ability to build trust, negotiate effectively, and secure commitments.

Proven experience scaling organizations, strengthening institutional capabilities, and translating an established foundation into sustainable growth and broader impact.

Strong strategic and financial acumen, including the ability to allocate resources effectively, assess organizational performance, manage risks, and make informed long-term decisions.

Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and empower senior leadership teams, develop future leaders, and establish systems that support organizational independence and continuity.

A strong interest in product thinking, technology-enabled innovation, and scalable solutions, with the ability to identify opportunities for technology to advance organizational goals without necessarily having an engineering background.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills, with the confidence to engage diverse stakeholders and represent an organization at the highest levels.

Strong judgment, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities, combined with a mission-driven mindset and a commitment to measurable, sustainable outcomes.

Experience working with global boards, founders, or international stakeholders is an advantage, particularly in organizations operating across multiple geographies.
