As a Freelance Social Content Editor, you will transform raw footage, user-generated content, and creator videos into polished, platform-ready assets for leading social media channels. You will collaborate closely with creative, social media, influencer, and production teams to bring brand stories to life through compelling short-form video. From dynamic cuts and captions to sound design and visual effects, your work will help capture attention and strengthen audience engagement. Edit short-form video content for client social media channels using raw footage, user-generated content (UGC), creator videos, and other source materials.

Produce polished, platform-ready videos tailored to TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other social media formats, ensuring the correct specifications, aspect ratios, captions, and export settings.

Enhance content with captions, text overlays, graphics, music, and sound design while maintaining brand guidelines and adapting to current social media trends.

Collaborate with creative, social media, influencer, and production teams to understand briefs, interpret creative direction, and deliver engaging content aligned with campaign objectives.

Incorporate feedback efficiently and accurately across multiple revision rounds, maintaining quality and consistency throughout the editing process.

Manage multiple editing assignments across concurrent client projects, prioritizing tasks and meeting agreed deadlines and turnaround times.

Organize project assets and deliver final files according to established naming conventions, file management practices, and delivery standards.

Stay informed about evolving social media trends, including editing styles, popular sounds, pacing, storytelling techniques, and platform best practices.

Contribute creative ideas and editing recommendations that improve content quality, strengthen audience engagement, and support client objectives.

Requirements

At least five years of professional video editing experience, with a strong focus on short-form social media content.

Proficiency in CapCut and familiarity with other video editing tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or native social media editing applications.

Strong understanding of platform-specific requirements, video formats, aspect ratios, editing conventions, and creative best practices for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

A portfolio or showreel demonstrating high-quality, social-first video editing and the ability to create engaging content for digital audiences.

Experience incorporating captions, graphics, text overlays, music, and sound design into polished short-form videos.

Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and maintain consistent quality.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams, respond constructively to feedback, and manage revisions independently.

A proactive, detail-oriented approach, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, creative briefs, and client requirements.

Current knowledge of social media trends and a demonstrated ability to translate emerging formats and editing styles into relevant, engaging content.

Based in the United States and available to work with U.S. time zones.

Previous experience working with a marketing agency or consultancy is preferred.

Experience creating content for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands or other consumer-facing businesses is an advantage.

A bachelor's degree in Film, Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent professional experience is also accepted.
