As an Industrial Power Systems Inspector, you will evaluate the safety, compliance, condition, and reliability of electrical infrastructure across commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities. You will conduct detailed inspections of complex power systems, including switchgear, electrical distribution equipment, backup generators, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and battery installations. Using your technical expertise, you will identify potential hazards, assess maintenance practices, and verify compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards. You will review engineering drawings, perform field assessments, and provide actionable recommendations to help clients mitigate risks and improve operational reliability. Working across diverse facilities, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, translating inspection findings into clear reports that support informed maintenance and safety decisions. This remote-based opportunity offers experienced electrical professionals the chance to apply their expertise to projects that protect people, infrastructure, and critical operations.
Conduct industrial power system inspections: Perform comprehensive assessments of electrical infrastructure in commercial, industrial, and mission-critical facilities to evaluate equipment condition, operational reliability, and compliance with applicable requirements.
Review electrical documentation: Interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and as-built documentation to verify field conditions and identify discrepancies between documented designs and installed systems.
Verify code and safety compliance: Assess electrical installations and operating practices against relevant National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, OSHA, IEEE, and client-specific standards and requirements.
Perform electrical safety assessments: Conduct arc flash hazard assessments, review existing arc flash studies, and identify electrical safety risks requiring corrective action.
Evaluate preventive maintenance practices: Inspect electrical equipment and assess maintenance programs against recognized industry guidance, including NFPA 70B recommendations.
Inspect critical power infrastructure: Assess service entrances, switchgear, electrical distribution systems, backup generators, UPS equipment, battery banks, and related infrastructure for condition, performance, and reliability.
Identify potential equipment deficiencies: Perform visual inspections and, where applicable, infrared thermography to identify overheating, loose connections, load imbalances, and other indicators of potential electrical failures.
Assess backup power systems: Conduct operational checks of UPS systems and battery installations, reviewing maintenance records, runtime conditions, and other relevant indicators of system readiness.
Document findings and recommendations: Prepare detailed inspection reports supported by photographic evidence, clearly identifying deficiencies, safety concerns, compliance gaps, potential risks, and recommended corrective actions.
Advise clients on technical findings: Communicate inspection results to clients and facility stakeholders, explaining technical issues in accessible, practical terms and recommending appropriate next steps.
Support risk mitigation and reliability improvements: Provide technical insights that help clients prioritize corrective measures, strengthen electrical safety programs, and improve the long-term reliability of their facilities.
Maintain professional inspection standards: Apply consistent inspection methodologies, sound technical judgment, and attention to detail across diverse facilities and project environments.
