Legal & ComplianceAttorney

Join a nationally recognized labor and employment practice in a flexible, fully remote legal role designed for experienced attorneys who want to work on complex, high-impact matters without the demands of a traditional full-time, partner-track position. You will support employers in employment litigation, regulatory proceedings, and workplace-related disputes, bringing strategic legal insight and practical solutions to a wide range of challenges. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced attorneys, exchange knowledge, and contribute to sophisticated legal matters within a supportive, team-oriented environment. With an hourly structure and no billable-hour requirement, you can manage your workload around your availability and professional priorities. This opportunity is particularly suited to seasoned employment lawyers seeking meaningful legal work, professional flexibility, and continued engagement with challenging cases. The position is remote and focused on supporting matters involving California employment law.

  • Manage Employment Litigation: Handle employment-related litigation in federal and state courts, including drafting responsive pleadings, managing discovery, preparing motions, and developing summary judgment arguments.

  • Represent Clients in Administrative Proceedings: Respond to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges and matters before other federal, state, and local administrative agencies.

  • Defend Workplace Investigations: Prepare position statements, manage agency investigations, participate in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, and represent clients during mediations and conciliations.

  • Negotiate Dispute Resolutions: Support settlement negotiations and work toward practical, effective outcomes for clients facing employment-related claims.

  • Collaborate With Legal Teams: Work closely with experienced attorneys to share legal insights, resources, and best practices while contributing to complex employment matters.

  • Manage Workload Independently: Take responsibility for agreed-upon assignments, organize competing priorities, and adapt to changing case demands without marketing or other firm-contribution hour obligations.

  • Deliver High-Quality Legal Work: Apply sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong legal analysis to help clients navigate employment disputes and compliance challenges.

  • Litigation Expertise: Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings and motions, managing all phases of discovery, and preparing summary judgment motions.

  • Administrative Agency Experience: Familiarity with EEOC charges and investigations, including preparing position statements, attending fact-finding conferences and on-site visits, handling mediations and conciliations, and negotiating settlements.

  • Court and Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with federal and state court procedures and employment-related administrative proceedings at the federal, state, and local levels.

  • Active Bar Admission: An active license in the state where you reside and in a state where the partner company maintains an office.

  • Collaboration and Communication: A collegial, cooperative approach and the ability to work effectively with experienced legal professionals.

  • Time Management and Flexibility: Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage fluctuating workloads, and comfort working in an hourly, assignment-based environment.

  • Availability: A willingness to take on approximately 1,000 or more work hours annually, depending on case needs. This is an ideal target rather than a billable-hour requirement, and scheduling is designed to remain flexible.
