Middle Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

As a Middle Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of a mission-critical content platform powering an innovative e-commerce and advertising technology ecosystem. You will take ownership of core backend systems, delivering roadmap features from conception through production while ensuring reliability, scalability, and code quality. Working within an engineering-driven, international team, you will help maintain essential services for content processing, merchant administration, and workflow automation. You will also embrace an AI-first development approach, using coding agents to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, and make existing systems easier for AI tools to maintain. Alongside feature development, you will support production operations, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvements in engineering practices. • Between two and five years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software development.

• Proven hands-on experience building, maintaining, and deploying production applications using Ruby on Rails.

• Two to five years of solid experience working with relational databases, SQL, and query design.

• Daily practical experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or comparable tools, including task planning, code generation, reviewing AI-generated output, and validating implementation quality.

• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, code maintainability, debugging, and production application development.

• Experience writing automated tests, participating in code reviews, and working with CI/CD pipelines.

• A proven track record of delivering reliable, high-quality features to production and taking responsibility for their ongoing performance.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and develop effective technical solutions.

• Excellent written and spoken English skills, enabling clear communication and effective collaboration within an international, distributed team.

• A proactive, independent working style, with a strong sense of ownership and a willingness to learn and experiment with emerging development tools.

• Deeper knowledge of AI coding agent capabilities, including skills, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, subagents, and context engineering.

• Experience with Kafka or other message brokers and event-driven architectures.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and AWS infrastructure.

• Experience with Datadog, production monitoring, incident investigation, or on-call rotations.

• Practical experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.

• Exposure to LLM-powered product features, content processing systems, or product catalog data pipelines.

• Interest in improving AI-assisted development workflows and making software architectures more suitable for agent-based engineering.
