Principal Software Developer
Quick Summary
The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a strong background in cloud data platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise application development.
Take a leading role in shaping the reliability, performance, and scalability of a cloud-based data platform that powers critical customer reporting.
You will own data pipelines end to end, from ingestion and transformation to secure API delivery, ensuring customers can depend on accurate and accessible information.
Working across data and application engineering, you will navigate a complex multi-repository architecture and drive improvements throughout the platform.
Your expertise will help strengthen observability, prevent production failures, and resolve performance bottlenecks affecting enterprise customers.
You will establish high standards for code quality, testing, code reviews, and production readiness while guiding engineering best practices across the team.
This is a high-autonomy opportunity for an experienced engineer who combines technical depth with strong ownership and a commitment to continuous improvement.
The role follows a hybrid work arrangement, combining work from home with onsite collaboration as required.
As a Principal Software Developer, you will lead technical improvements across data infrastructure and application services, with a focus on reliability, performance, and customer trust.
-
Build, maintain, and operate data pipelines using Databricks and Azure Data Factory, transforming raw data into reliable, report-ready datasets through the medallion architecture pattern.
-
Improve reliability and observability across the complete data pipeline, implementing health checks, monitoring, data-quality controls, and failure-handling mechanisms.
-
Identify and prioritize customer-facing performance issues, including long-running requests that cause timeouts for large enterprise customers.
-
Develop a strong understanding of the multi-repository architecture and contribute effectively across both application and data engineering workstreams.
-
Establish and uphold engineering standards for code reviews, testing strategies, maintainability, and production readiness.
-
Design, develop, and maintain ASP.NET Core OData reporting services that securely expose platform data to customers.
-
Support identity and security improvements, including authentication and token-related integrations.
-
Investigate complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that improve platform stability.
-
Collaborate with engineers across the organization to resolve cross-repository dependencies and ensure consistent technical practices.
-
Provide technical leadership through thoughtful design decisions, constructive code reviews, and a strong focus on measurable improvements to customer experience.
