Senior Cloud Security & Compliance Engineer
Quick Summary
Administer and optimize the Wiz platform or an equivalent Cloud-Native Applicati
We are seeking an experienced cloud security engineer to strengthen security posture and compliance across complex, multi-cloud environments. In this hands-on role, you will serve as a key technical resource for cloud security posture management, using Wiz or equivalent platforms to improve threat detection and reduce risk. You will develop automated security controls, custom policies, and reusable infrastructure solutions to help engineering teams build secure-by-default systems. Working extensively with Python, Terraform, and policy-as-code frameworks, you will translate security requirements into scalable technical safeguards. You will also support regulated cloud environments, including those subject to federal security standards, through continuous monitoring and automated compliance controls. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on enterprise and government cybersecurity while collaborating with technical teams to improve security and resilience.
-
Cloud Security Engineering: Administer and optimize the Wiz platform or an equivalent Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP), improving cloud security posture through scalable policies, accurate detection, and actionable findings.
-
Policy Development and Automation: Create, maintain, and refine custom security rules and policies as code using frameworks such as OPA/Rego, supported by Python scripting and API integrations.
-
Infrastructure Security: Develop reusable Terraform modules and secure-by-default infrastructure patterns that embed security controls into cloud environments.
-
Multi-Cloud Protection: Implement and scale security capabilities across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), adapting controls to each platform's architecture and requirements.
-
Risk Assessment and Remediation: Evaluate security findings based on exploitability, potential impact, and blast radius; prioritize remediation efforts and reduce false positives to improve detection quality.
-
Compliance and Continuous Monitoring: Support FedRAMP and other regulated cloud environments by automating security controls, mapping requirements to technical guardrails, and maintaining continuous monitoring capabilities.
-
Engineering Enablement: Help engineering teams resolve vulnerabilities and configuration risks efficiently through automation, clear remediation guidance, and secure infrastructure patterns.
-
Security Integration and Collaboration: Integrate security controls into development workflows and CI/CD pipelines, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
~2 min read-
Professional Experience: At least five years of hands-on cloud security engineering experience, including production-level implementation and maintenance of cloud security controls.
-
Cloud Security Platforms: Experience administering Wiz or a comparable CNAPP solution, such as Prisma Cloud, Orca, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, or Lacework, with the ability to adapt quickly to new platforms.
-
Programming and Automation: Proficiency in Python for scripting, security automation, and API integrations, with experience using tools such as the Wiz GraphQL API, AWS boto3, or equivalent technologies.
-
Multi-Cloud Expertise: Deep knowledge of AWS and strong practical experience with either Azure or GCP, alongside working knowledge of all three major cloud platforms.
-
Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform and HCL, particularly developing reusable modules that enforce secure-by-default configurations.
-
Policy as Code: Experience with OPA/Rego or an equivalent policy-as-code framework for defining, implementing, and maintaining automated security guardrails.
-
Security Analysis: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate vulnerabilities, assess exploitability, prioritize risk, and distinguish genuine threats from false positives.
-
U.S. Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required to support the applicable regulatory requirements associated with FedRAMP environments.
-
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, GovCloud, or Impact Level environments is preferred, particularly experience translating compliance requirements into technical controls.
-
Additional Technical Skills: Experience with Kubernetes manifests, container security, CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins, and audit support or continuous monitoring is an advantage.
-
Leadership and Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly, collaborate effectively with engineering teams, mentor colleagues, and lead technical discussions.
-
Certifications: Relevant credentials are beneficial, including AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
