The Water Infrastructure & Resilience Engineer will contribute to innovative engineering solutions that strengthen water security and infrastructure resilience across critical federal and military installations. In this role, you will combine technical analysis, engineering modeling, and cost estimation to assess water-neutrality opportunities and develop practical resilience strategies. You will evaluate emerging water technologies, conduct on-site infrastructure assessments, and translate complex engineering data into actionable recommendations. Working alongside policy specialists, project managers, and technical experts, you will help shape strategic initiatives that improve resource efficiency and operational preparedness. You will also support junior analysts and contribute to high-impact technical reports and presentations for senior leadership. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to apply your engineering expertise to nationally significant infrastructure challenges while supporting sustainability, security, and long-term environmental resilience.
-
Technical Analysis and Project Delivery: Contribute to engineering projects from initial data collection and technical assessment through modeling, analysis, validation, and final reporting.
-
Water-Neutrality Modeling: Design, develop, and validate a feasibility conditions model to assess and score installations based on their potential to achieve water neutrality.
-
Cost Estimation and Financial Modeling: Develop a parametric cost model to estimate the investment required for water infrastructure and resilience projects, incorporating relevant engineering and life-cycle cost considerations.
-
On-Site Infrastructure Assessments: Participate in a weeklong assessment at a pilot Department of the Air Force (DAF) installation. Conduct infrastructure walk-downs, lead technical interviews with engineering personnel, and collect the data needed to validate analytical models.
-
Water Technology Evaluation: Research and assess innovative water technologies, including membrane bioreactors (MBR), reverse osmosis (RO), atmospheric water generation (AWG), smart rainwater harvesting, and aquifer storage and recovery (ASR).
-
Water Systems Engineering: Apply expertise in water balance modeling, treatment technologies, and water conveyance systems to identify viable infrastructure improvements and resilience opportunities.
-
Technical Quality and Mentorship: Provide technical direction and support to junior analysts while ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and rigor of project analyses and deliverables.
-
Technical Documentation and Presentations: Author technical sections of major project reports and prepare presentations that communicate complex engineering concepts, analytical findings, and recommendations to senior DAF leadership.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with a Senior Water Policy Specialist, Project Manager, and other technical professionals to integrate engineering findings into a cohesive, practical, and actionable strategic framework.
-
Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability: Support initiatives that strengthen water security, improve resource management, reduce environmental impacts, and enhance the operational readiness of critical installations.
