Engineer IV

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY: An Engineer IV serves as a technical advisor responsible for a broad program involving development, budgeting, scheduling, project management, and installation of systems.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

• Perform in a supervisor role for engineers involved in the development, testing, integration, and sustainment of specialized and diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment, and systems
• Determine test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements
• Write test planning documents, schedule program activities, track funding and expenditures, plan and conduct test missions, analyze resultant data, document results in test reports, statistical evaluations and briefing presentations
• Direct interface with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design
• Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
• Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects
• Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
• Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
• Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
• Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
• Act as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems
• Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations
• Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
• Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures
• Perform other job-related duties, as required

RANGE POSITION : Independent problem solver and effective communicator with demonstrated Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience. The ideal candidate can translate complex requirements into actionable system models, coordinate across diverse technical and operational stakeholders, and integrate development efforts across organizations.

1. MBSE Tools and Modeling: Experience developing and maintaining SysML models using Cameo Systems Modeler, Magic System of Systems Architect (MSOSA), or similar tools. Ability to model requirements, interfaces, system behavior, architecture, and verification traceability.
2. Professional Certification: Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certification preferred; equivalent MBSE education, training, or practical experience may be considered.
3. Network Architecture: Familiarity with network architecture, interfaces, data flows, interoperability, cybersecurity considerations, and operational constraints.
4. Stakeholder Coordination: Ability to work effectively with engineers, program managers, operational users, developers, test personnel, and mission partners to identify dependencies, resolve issues, and maintain alignment.
5. Requirements and Technical Communication: Experience with requirements decomposition, interface management, technical documentation, and briefing technical issues, risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:

• Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
• Well-developed leadership skills
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines
• Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license
• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen

SALARY: The expected pay range for this position is $120,000 to $155,000 annually

The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay.  JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
