Keystone Solutions is seeking a Safety Supervisor for a consultancy mission at a client site. In this role, you will provide functional support to the team leader and be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with conventional and nuclear safety regulations within the facilities and on-site. You will conduct and report radiological measurements, manage both internal and external personnel during operations, and lead work discussions as a representative of the physical control service to guarantee safety for people and the environment.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Conduct release, radiation, and contamination measurements, interpret results, propose safety solutions, take actions, and occasionally impose measures on the operator to monitor radiation and contamination levels within the work environment and nuclear zones.
- →Perform dose and risk assessments on-site and determine whether to release materials, individuals, and structures after measurements.
- →Be responsible for measurements, registration, and interpretation of obtained measurement results, operation, and use of measuring devices.
- →Verify and analyze alarms, malfunctions, or issues and take appropriate action on-site.
- →Identify unsafe situations, assess risks, and justify residual risks regarding nuclear and industrial safety, proposing and enforcing corrective actions to ensure safe working conditions.
- →Monitor ongoing work and ensure correct execution.
- →Conduct radiological supervision of transports according to prescribed standards and instructions, perform measurements, and report findings.
- →Carry out safety rounds, control rounds, routine contamination and radiation checks, and create radiation and contamination mappings, delineate unsafe zones, and follow up on unsafe situations outside regular hours.
- →Monitor doses to ensure compliance with legally prescribed limits.
- →Record daily dose monitoring of personnel working in nuclear zones.
- →Facilitate nasal swabs, measure, and report results.
- →Manage and ensure the correct use of prescribed dosimeters.
- →Assist in drafting risk and job position analyses, ALARA studies, etc., and assess compliance to inventory risks and implement appropriate measures for a safe working environment.
- →Determine the necessary CBMs and/or PPEs and ensure correct donning and doffing of operators.
- →Contribute to problem-solving and propose possible solutions.
- →Lead or guide job position analyses.
- →Complete, check, approve, and initiate safety protocols according to instructions to establish agreements for safe work commencement.
- →Supervise and enforce compliance with imposed regulations during and after work completion.
- →Evaluate and adjust unsafe work situations and incidents.
- →Terminate unsafe work or impose additional conditions.
- →Ensure proper functioning and use of radiological measuring equipment and resolve malfunctions to guarantee reliable measurements.
- →Daily check atmospheric discharge monitors and process and report data.
- →Verify the efficiency of measuring devices.
- →Perform minor repairs on personal contamination monitors.
- →Contribute to prevention policies and raise awareness among colleagues and external parties to ensure and improve safety within the company.
- →Draft unusual incident and accident reports and provide training such as toolbox talks, safety, and kick-off meetings.
- →Serve as a role model to address unsafe behavior among colleagues.
- →Collaborate in seeking improvements and solutions.
- →Communicate with all stakeholders, supervisors, colleagues, and staff regarding issues, incidents, questions, etc., by managing logbooks to provide necessary information for correct actions/decisions.
- →Prepare weekly reports.
- →Manage the VEM logbook.
- →Ensure verbal work and shift handovers.
