We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to serve as a technical authority for Edwards Life Safety and Emergency Communications systems/Incident Management equipment. This role provides advanced application engineering support across the design, specification, and implementation phases of projects, working closely with partners, end users, and A&E consultants on medium to large-scale, complex systems.
Role’s overview:
The Senior Application Engineer acts as a design and application subject-matter expert for Edwards fire detection, voice evacuation, and emergency communication solutions. The role is about supporting clients, external consultants and partnering with internal stakeholders (Sales, BDMs) by delivering system design leadership, A&E specification development, technical compliance guidance and professional technical presentations.
The role involves intensive traveling within the assigned region of Middle East (+ Turkey). Preferred candidate’s location is Riyadh or Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Key responsibilities:
Application Engineering & System Design:
Gather and analyze requirements to develop site-specific, code-compliant life safety system solutions.
Lead conceptual, preliminary and detailed system designs, including cause & effect logic.
Ensure compliance with NFPA, EN54, and local AHJ requirements.
A&E Specification & Consultant Engagement:
Support consulting engineers with specification development and system selection.
Influence performance-based and prescriptive specifications aligned with Edwards solutions.
Review consultant designs and respond to technical RFIs.
Technical Presentations & Training:
Deliver technical product and system presentations to consultants, customers, and distributors.
Conduct system design reviews and technical workshops.
Software Tools & Documentation:
Use Edwards software & tools (FireWorks, 4-CU, 3-SDU, FA-CU), AutoCAD, FireCad, and EASE.
Develop calculations, drawings, and application documentation using MS Office.
Codes, Standards & Compliance:
Act as a subject matter expert on applicable codes, standards, and approvals.
Support AHJ technical justification and compliance documentation.
Pre-Sales Support:
Provide technical input for pre-sales activities and complex project pursuits.
Key requirements:
Min. Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or similar area.
5+ years of practical experience in Life Safety/large alarms industry.
Edwards systems knowledge will be a strong advantage.
EMEA / Middle East regulatory exposure.
Very good Arabic and English.
Knowledge of NFPA, EN54, ISO7240.
Strong design, specification and presentation skills.
Large projects management/participation experience.
Great communicator and team player.
Willingness to travel (up to 70% of time).
