Interested in payroll, HR administration and compliant reporting? We are looking for a Junior Payroll and HR Assistant to join our Tax Team in Bucharest. You will support client payroll and personnel administration processes, helping ensure accurate reporting and compliance with Romanian labour and tax regulations.

You will support end-to-end monthly payroll processing, personnel administration and HR data management for KPMG clients, ensuring accurate records and compliant reporting to Romanian authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll, tax calculations for expat employees & personnel administration
    You will support end‑to‑end monthly payroll processing, including data input in our internal systems, preparation and submission of payroll statements and related documentation. The role involves maintaining and archiving employee records, as well as preparing routine HR documentation such as contracts, certificates, reports and other employment‑related documents.
  • Tax & regulatory compliance
    You will assist with the preparation, self-checking and submission of payroll‑related tax reports, ensuring compliance with Romanian labour and tax legislation.
  • Client support & reporting
    You will support senior colleagues by setting up contractual arrangements for employees, maintaining and updating HR databases, providing information to employees, and preparing periodic or ad‑hoc reports. The role includes contributing to strong client relationships through accurate, timely and reliable delivery.
  • Data collection & analysis
    You will collect, validate and input payroll and HR data, supporting reporting activities using Excel and internal systems.
  • Personal development
    You will continuously develop your professional skills through on‑the‑job learning, coaching and formal training, building knowledge in payroll, taxation, labour legislation and compliance practices.

You are at the beginning of your career in HR and payroll, with a strong interest in people, data accuracy and compliance, and you enjoy organizing information, working with regulations and supporting employees.

  • University degree (e.g. in economics, business, HR, or related field).
  • Experience in personnel administration and/or HR administration (around 1 year) is a plus, but strong motivation and willingness to learn are equally valued.
  • Knowledge of labour legislation is considered an advantage.
  • Good IT skills, particularly:
    • Excel – for data entry, analysis and reporting.
    • Word – for preparing and formatting HR documents.
  • Strong English language skills, both written and spoken.
  • Able to communicate clearly and tactfully with clients’ employees and internal stakeholders.

Nice to Have
