We are looking for a Senior In-House Lawyer to join our Internal Contracting Unit. You will provide high-level legal support on a broad range of contractual and commercial matters, advise internal stakeholders, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our internal contracting framework and processes.

Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Lead contract drafting, review & negotiation: Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts (including, without limitation, client engagement letters, services agreements, NDAs, procurement and vendor contracts), ensuring alignment with internal policies, risk management and compliance requirements.
- →Business-oriented legal advice: Provide consistent, pragmatic and business-oriented legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on contractual, commercial and regulatory matters, including day-to-day activities of KPMG in Romania entities.
- →Contracting framework & process improvement: Develop and update standard contract templates, guidelines and internal procedures, contributing to process improvement, standardization and efficiency in internal contracting.
- →Legal and contractual risk management: Identify legal and contractual risks and propose practical mitigation solutions that balance legal protection with business needs and client expectations.
- →Regulatory monitoring & impact assessment: Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on internal contracting activities, recommending necessary adjustments to templates, processes or policies.
- →Corporate documentation & formalities: Draft corporate documentation and perform registration formalities with competent authorities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely completion.
- →Support for internal projects: Provide legal input for internal projects (e.g. technology implementations, HR initiatives, business operations changes), ensuring compliance with laws, internal policies and procedures.
- →Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with other internal functions (Risk Management, Finance, business teams, etc.) to ensure a consistent, aligned approach to contracting and internal projects.
- →Day-to-day legal assistance: Provide legal assistance on other day-to-day activities of KPMG in Romania entities, according to business priorities and team allocation.
- →Guidance & informal mentoring: Act as a reference point for more junior team members on contracting-related topics, sharing know-how and good practices and supporting their development.
You are a seasoned in-house or commercial lawyer who combines strong technical expertise in civil and commercial/contract law with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset. You are comfortable owning complex legal workstreams, managing multiple stakeholders and contributing to process improvement.

- Professional experience
- Typically 6–7 years of professional experience after admission to the lawyer profession, preferably in a law firm or as an in-house lawyer, in an international environment, with a focus on civil and commercial/contract law.
- Functional expertise
- Strong expertise in contract law and commercial agreements (services, procurement, vendors, NDAs, client engagements).
- Experience with corporate documentation and registration formalities before competent authorities.
- Solid understanding of how legal risk and compliance requirements impact contracting and business operations.
- Stakeholder & project management
- Proven ability to organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritizing effectively and maintaining high-quality output.
- Demonstrated capability to advise and influence non-legal stakeholders.
- Proficient in legal research, including legislation, case law and regulatory guidance.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for drafting, analysis and presentations.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, enabling you to work effectively in an international environment and on cross-border matters.
Nice to Have

- Exposure to legal tech or contract lifecycle management tools.
- Involvement in designing or rolling out internal policies, guidelines or playbooks.
