ABOUT KTF FODE COLLEGES:
The KTF FODE Colleges are training facilities located in mostly rural locations throughout Papua New Guinea. The FODE Centers deliver curriculum to students to upgrade their certifications making them eligible to follow teaching and health worker professional studies pathways.
The FODE Centres are currently running the Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) program, upskilling members of the community through the FODE curriculum of assessments and examinations all the way through to their Grade 12 certificates.
We are currently recruiting high-achieving, independent and self-motivated, skilled professionals with the required registration for our colleges. Someone that is dedicated, innovative, flexible and team orientated. You will work with a small team to support the growth of our colleges and the success of the students following the Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) curriculum, this remote management will necessitate excellent communication skills.
The role is hands-on and will require the successful candidate to undertake a variety of tasks, including teaching, assessment, written and verbal feedback of student work, mentoring, administration of enrolments, developing strategies in maintaining student progress, supporting the community engagement with the facility, maintaining a student database and maintaining regular contact with KTF.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct the teaching, marking, assessment and monitoring of Flexible Open Distance Education (FODE) Curriculum and determine instructional and assessment strategies to suit a range of student needs;
- Oversee and set student targets in accordance with the requirements of the curriculum;
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment, including encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning;
- Motivate and monitor students through the cycle of remote and on-site learning;
- Support students as they approach and take exams to be fully prepared and confident with the process and material;
- Research, prepare and customise learning materials suitable for a range of teaching and learning settings and a range of students;
- Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, progress and assessment and communicate these to the relevant FODE school’s Principal and Project Management in Australia;
- A good understanding and competence of technology for email communications, database entry and marketing as well as being able to manage an electronic version of FODE materials via tablet technology;
- Resilience to strengthen and support the students and staff in rural and remote locations;
- Open to learning how to use tablet technology to deliver the FODE program;
- Any other duties as directed by the College Management;
- Adhere to all KTF policies and procedures including child protection policy, no-alcohol, drugs & buai policy, disability policy, gender equity policy, and counter terrorism policy.

KTF is currently recruiting Secondary Teachers / FODE Lecturers for the following locations. Please indicate in your application what location preferences you have.
- Kokoda College, Oro Province
- Kiunga, Western Province
- Morehead, Western Province
- Lake Murray, Western Province
- New Ireland Province (Lihir Island and Namatanai District)
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must demonstrate they are able to meet the following Key Selection Criteria:
- Bachelor degree of Education – Secondary Education ESSENTIAL;
- Full teaching registration obtained ESSENTIAL;
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience HIGHLY DESIRED;
- Possess current vocational skills and knowledge that will enable vocational training and education programs in the relevant teaching areas to be prepared, delivered, assessed, evaluated and administered;
- Possess the ability to research, select and use a wide range of teaching and assessment strategies to suit the needs of a diverse range of students, including those with disabilities and from other disadvantaged groups;
- Possess the ability to apply information and communication technologies to the teaching and learning process as well as collecting, organising and processing relevant data;
- High level of communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team;
- Knowledge and understanding of the current issues influencing the TVET sector, particularly with teacher education colleges.
- Experience with the FODE program is desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have the right to work in PNG.
This position may require travel within PNG from time to time.
