Job Summary: 

The Manufacturing Support Intern will support the development and maintenance of digital and paper-based work instructions that communicate assembly processes, safety requirements, and quality standards. This role will gain hands-on experience by observing manufacturing operations and assisting in the creation of standardized work documents, visual aids, and training materials. The intern will work closely with Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and R&D teams to help ensure process documentation remains accurate and up to date while gaining exposure to manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and new product development. 

 

 

Documentation & Standard Work Support 

• Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining Standard Work documents and assembly process instructions. 

• Support the development of clear and consistent work instructions using written content, photos, and visual aids. 

• Help review existing documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with current production processes. 

• Assist in incorporating quality and safety requirements into standardized work documentation. 

Manufacturing Process Observation & Improvement 

• Observe manufacturing operations and assist with documenting assembly processes and workflow improvements. 

• Support process confirmation activities by helping identify documentation updates needed on the production floor. 

• Partner with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering teams to gather information for process updates. 

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process documentation projects. 

Training & Workforce Development 

• Assist with the preparation of training materials for new and updated manufacturing processes. 

• Support team members during training sessions and production launches. 

• Help maintain documentation used for workforce development and standardized training. 

New Product Introduction Support 

• Assist Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams with documentation needs related to new model introductions. 

• Participate in assembly reviews and process development activities to gain understanding of product launch processes. 

• Help coordinate updates to work instructions and training materials associated with new products. 

Professional Development & Team Collaboration 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing documentation projects. 

• Participate in meetings, training opportunities, and special projects to develop technical and professional skills. 

• Gain exposure to manufacturing operations, engineering processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):  

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Communications, Engineering Technology, Business or a related field. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to organize information and communicate processes in a clear, concise manner. 
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments. 
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
• Interest in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, and technical documentation. 
• Ability to learn new software and manufacturing systems. 
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
• Must be actively pursuing a related degree throughout the internship period. 
• Expected graduation date must be December 2027 or later. 
• Candidates who have already graduated or who will graduate before December 2027 are not eligible. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Previous manufacturing, engineering, internship, co-op, or project experience through coursework, student organizations, or employment. 
• Experience creating documentation, presentations, process maps, or training materials. 
• Familiarity with manufacturing environments and assembly processes. 
• Exposure to CAD software, XVL, or other manufacturing documentation tools. 

 

 

 

Education Requirements: 

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Technical Communications, Engineering Technology, Business or a related field. 

 

Language Requirements: 

Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.
