POSITION SUMMARY

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk supports the daily shipping, receiving, mail, and distribution needs of Lakewood Church. This position is responsible for processing incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records, and ensuring materials are delivered efficiently to the appropriate departments. The role also supports inventory movement, shipping supply management, and tour-related logistics while providing dependable and responsive service to internal departments.

REPORTS TO: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, in accordance with applicable laws including the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, packages, freight, and other shipments accurately and efficiently
  • Prepare goods for shipment, selecting appropriate shipping methods, procedures, routes, and rates
  • Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy, proper packaging, and compliance with shipping requirements, including palletized shipments to fulfillment warehouses
  • Receive, unpack, inspect, and document incoming shipments; identify shortages or damages and coordinate with vendors, carriers, Accounting, or other appropriate departments to resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records, including daily shipping reports, purchase orders, packing slips, and related documentation
  • Track outgoing shipments and delivery status as needed and respond to shipment-related inquiries
  • Deliver received materials, packages, supplies, and five-gallon water bottles to appropriate departments and designated locations throughout the facility
  • Maintain adequate inventory of shipping, mailing, and post office supplies
  • Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Support tour and event logistics, including preparation, shipment or delivery, and return inventory check-in as needed
  • Provide responsive, high-quality service to internal departments and other stakeholders
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shipping and receiving work area
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core beliefs
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records
  • Ability to identify and resolve shipping, receiving, and delivery discrepancies effectively
  • Ability to safely perform physically active duties, including regularly moving, lifting, and transporting materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to operate material-handling equipment safely and responsibly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn shipping, tracking, and inventory-related systems
  • Familiarity with shipping software and carrier systems such as UPS WorldShip, USPS shipping systems, or similar platforms preferred
  • Professional appearance and conduct
  • Ability to travel in support of Lakewood tours as needed

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, mailroom, inventory, or related experience preferred
  • Previous experience operating a forklift and/or electric pallet jack preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification as required by Lakewood Church
