The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members serve with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

Pima County is working to close the digital divide by linking communities to affordable, high-speed internet access, increasing access to devices and tools, and providing opportunities for digital skill building.

The Digital Navigator is a trusted guide who provides individualized or small group assistance to community members needing affordable home internet service, affordable internet-capable devices, and/or coaching in introductory digital skills. This assistance may be provided in person, by telephone, email, text, video chat, and other communication methods as required. The Digital Navigator helps the most vulnerable members of our population - those who are disconnected. This work is vital to achieving County goals for living well and aging in place.

As an AmeriCorps State and National member, the Digital Navigator provides direct service to community members and supports approved digital inclusion activities under the supervision and direction of designated program staff. Service activities must address identified community needs and be consistent with the AmeriCorps-approved program, member service assignment, and applicable award requirements. The member’s service supplements, and does not duplicate or displace, the work of paid employees or existing volunteers.
