OB/GYN Physician - Full-Time (Overview)

As a Physician - Obstetrics, you will provide compassionate medical care related to pregnancy and childbirth while diagnosing, treating, and helping prevent diseases affecting women, particularly those involving the reproductive system.

You may also provide general medical care to women, helping each patient feel informed, supported, and confident throughout her care journey. By combining thoughtful clinical judgment with clear communication, you will help patients navigate acute and long-term healthcare needs with dignity and confidence.

• →Obtain complete medical histories and physical data on patients.
• →Interpret and integrate patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
• →Perform complete physical examinations and record findings.
• →Collaborate with providers in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• →Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• →Synthesize data to determine diagnoses and therapeutic plans utilizing principles of prevention.
• →Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
• →Administer medications and injections.
• →Suture minor lacerations.
• →Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• →Instruct patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• →Provide patient education.
• →Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
• →Post tests and examination results.
• →Ensure notes needing a physician’s co-signature are appropriately addressed.
• →Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
• →Manage medical and surgical emergencies.
• →Provide monitoring and continuity of care between visits.
• →Maintain a working knowledge of ICD9, CPT and HCPCS coding and managed care, and be available for training as necessary.
• →Attend required meetings and participate in committees and pilot projects as requested.
• →Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
• →Follow Legacy guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• →Maintain strict confidentiality.
• →Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner that is consistent with the LEGACY Mission.

• →Perform other duties as assigned.

• Medical Doctorate with current licensure in the state of Texas.
• Provider shall obtain, maintain and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, other federal and state reimbursement programs, and the payment plan of any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit program requested by Legacy.

• Previous experience in a hospital and/or clinic setting

• Minimum of three years’ experience preferred. Expertise in high-risk pregnancy and minimally invasive gynecological procedures is preferred.
