Salary Range: £59,400 - £78,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Are you ready to lead agile delivery teams in solving complex problems and delivering high-value outcomes? At Leonardo UK, our Scrum Masters play a pivotal role in enabling agile teams to thrive — fostering collaboration, removing impediments, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll work across delivery, engineering, and product teams to ensure agile practices are embedded, outcomes are measurable, and teams are empowered to succeed.
Your work at Leonardo UK will see you take the lead in solving customer problems in an agile, innovative and team-centric manner.

The role involves working at our Customer's site in Gloucestershire for up to 4 days per week, to ensure close collaboration with the wider team and with our customers.  This role is focused on delivering, maintaining, and improving platform and systems engineering solutions that underpin critical defence, government and public sector services.

You will need to hold UK DV clearance while in this post.

What you will do as a Senior Scrum Master:

  • Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and delivery teams to improve agile capability and team performance.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and planning events across teams, supporting scaled delivery frameworks where appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement through metrics, retrospectives, and agile health checks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to align delivery with strategic priorities.
  • Represent agile delivery in governance forums, contributing to reporting, compliance, and planning.
  • Support agile transformation initiatives and contribute to agile communities of practice.
  • Champion psychological safety, team empowerment, and inclusive collaboration.
  • Extensive experience as a Scrum Master or agile delivery lead in complex, multi-team environments.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, Kanban) and scaled delivery models.
  • Proven ability to coach teams and leaders in agile principles, delivery practices, and team dynamics.
  • Experience working in secure, regulated, or mission-critical environments (e.g. defence, government).

Core areas (must have):

  • Agile Delivery Leadership: Leading agile delivery across multiple Scrum teams or programmes.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Supporting the development of Scrum Masters and agile practitioners.
  • Scaled Frameworks: Experience with SAFe, LeSS, or hybrid agile models.
  • Governance & Reporting: Representing agile delivery in governance and compliance forums.
  • Metrics & Improvement: Using data to assess team health and drive improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Influencing senior stakeholders and aligning delivery with strategic goals.
  • Tool Proficiency: Advanced use of agile collaboration and reporting tools.

Desirable:

  • Certifications such as SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), ICAgile Certified Expert, or PSM II/III.
  • Experience contributing to agile strategy, transformation programmes, or centre of excellence.
  • Familiarity with DDaT delivery principles and government service standards.
  • Exposure to DevOps, platform engineering, or agile service delivery environments.
  • Experience in change management, organisational design, or leadership development.
  • Ability to represent agile delivery in strategic planning, portfolio governance, and executive forums.

This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
