ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Senior Manager on the Platform team, you will be both a highly technical and effective people manager. Your team will be responsible for maintaining critical platform APIs such as user management, authentication, credit origination, external and internal APIs, payment and disbursement gateways, etc. Your team also designs and implements microservices, and orchestrates how these microservices work together to deliver lending services through our platform to customers.
  • Develop and refine objectives and key results for the team
  • Manage expectations about delivery of engineering projects
  • Help design solutions that meet product requirements efficiently and effectively
  • Assign engineering resources to projects based on skillset, capability, and interest
  • Track progress and/or work with a TPM to manage engineering projects at the story & task level
  • Help plan improvements to the development process
  • Work alongside engineers to help unblock them and improve their designs & code
  • Work with recruiters to bring in top talent
  • Provide and encourage opportunities for growth for the engineers
  • Manage performance, and deal with at-risk staff
  • Model company values and coach engineers on living them
  • Have led a team of 4-8 engineers, and have 2+ years of software engineering management experience
  • Can provide strong technical vision for your team and ensure consistent delivery on objectives
  • Have experience formulating a team's technical strategy and roadmap; you've collaborated and partnered effectively with several other teams to execute on shared goals
  • Have 5+ years hands on experience building cloud software platforms, especially those that use microservice architectures
  • Have experience building products, and have successfully taken significant enhancements and features from inception to production
  • Are a strong proponent of Agile software methodologies, such as Scrum, and engineering principles such as Test Driven Development
  • Understand how to balance tactical needs with strategic growth and quality-based initiatives that can span multiple quarters
