  • Knowledge of vacuum systems (e.g., PECVD, CVD).

  • Knowledge of installation engineering and requirements related to CE and ATEX.

  • Experience with EPLAN and Siemens and Pilz PLCs.

  • Experience with CMMS or asset management tools.

  • Experience with risk analyses (FMEA, HAZOP).

  • Knowledge of industrial automation (PLCs, IIoT, HMI, SCADA, etc.).

At LeydenJar Technologies, we have a mission: to reshape the future of energy storage. Our goal is to become the world's innovation leader in advanced battery anodes and thereby enable the next generation of batteries.

Why is this important? The world needs batteries with higher energy density, not only for better consumer electronics, but also for electric vehicles, e-flight, and beyond. While the battery industry advances by only around 3% per year on average, our breakthrough pure silicon anode technology delivers improvements of up to 70%. This is often regarded as the "holy grail" of the battery industry and unlocks new opportunities for electrification, sustainability, and resilience across global supply chains.

  • We produce pure silicon anode rolls that fit seamlessly into existing battery manufacturing lines, enabling customers to achieve significant performance improvements or develop entirely new product categories.

  • Our initial focus is consumer electronics, while automotive applications are already under development.

  • By leveraging semiconductor thin-film technology (plasma deposition) and applying it at scale to battery anodes, we have overcome the long-standing challenges of silicon in batteries and deliver durable, efficient performance at scale.

  • PlantOne opened in Eindhoven in 2026 and produces anode rolls while validating our roll-to-roll production equipment.

This is a tremendous opportunity and an ambitious journey. It requires bold, creative, and diverse talent who share our passion for innovation and sustainability. At LeydenJar, we value different perspectives, inclusive collaboration, and gender equality because diversity drives breakthrough ideas.

We are looking for a highly qualified Maintenance & Equipment Electrical Engineer. You will support the successful delivery of Europe's first silicon anode factory, located in Eindhoven.

You will be involved in overseeing the installation of all electrical systems, including utilities, gas safety systems, and power distribution systems. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving equipment performance throughout the facility, with a strong focus on vacuum deposition systems and all related equipment and utilities required to operate them.

You will ensure the reliability, maintainability, and safety of both equipment and infrastructure while driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

~1 min read

You will lead the electrical installation in accordance with Dutch regulations, including NEN3140 Scope 8, and ensure that installers and suppliers deliver according to agreed specifications. You will ensure that our deposition equipment operates reliably through preventive and corrective maintenance programs that you establish yourself. You will build the spare parts strategy from the ground up. You will be responsible for HVAC systems, compressed air systems, and process gases. And when equipment fails, you will be there to solve the problem because this is very much not a desk job.

During the initial period, you will participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment. Our existing production lines will continue operating, allowing you to learn the process while helping to build the future facility. After that, the focus will shift toward reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement.

  • You will be involved in the start-up phase of Plant One, where the new plant utilities are brought into operation and new equipment is installed and commissioned. You will become part of the Equipment Group, responsible for the installation of the new factory and equipment.

  • Existing equipment is already fully operational and provides an excellent opportunity to learn the processes and maintenance requirements. You will work closely with the Production Department on a range of continuous improvement projects.

  • You will be responsible for electrical installations in accordance with Dutch regulations (such as NEN3140 and Scope 8).

  • Ensure optimal performance of vacuum deposition systems through preventive and corrective maintenance.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase uptime, reliability, and process performance.

  • Maintain and improve technical documentation, procedures, and safety systems.

  • Develop and manage a strategy for critical spare parts and efficient safety stock management to support uninterrupted equipment operation.

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues on maintenance and improvement plans.

  • Manage maintenance-related contracts and suppliers.

  • Be responsible for the performance of plant-wide utility systems, including HVAC, compressed air, and process gases.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Provide technical input and operational support for future factory construction and engineering projects, ensuring that equipment and infrastructure designs align with long-term maintenance and performance requirements.

Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Extensive experience with industrial installations or machine building. You can read electrical drawings and P&IDs and have experience working with PLC systems. You are sufficiently fluent in Dutch to communicate with installers and inspectors and are also comfortable working in English, as our team represents more than twenty nationalities.

More important than ticking every box is your ability to take initiative and thrive in an environment where not everything has already been defined.

Experience with the following is advantageous but not required: vacuum technology, EPLAN, Siemens or Pilz systems, ATEX, HAZOP, and FMEA

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial environment.

  • Excellent knowledge of electrical, installation, and safety regulations.

  • Strong understanding of electrical design and logic.

  • Knowledge of PLC programming (OT).

  • Experience with electrical drawings, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic scale-up environment.

  • Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.

  • An industrial network within the Eindhoven region.
