The Director of Finance Strategy, YouVersion is primarily responsible for serving as a senior finance leader, partnering with YouVersion executive leadership to bring financial depth and strategic insight to shape YouVersion's long-term financial strategy. This role shapes long-term financial direction and builds the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth and international expansion. The Director translates complex financial data into actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making that drives sustainability and maximizes ministry impact.
Strategic Finance Leadership
  • Serve as the finance strategy partner to YouVersion executive leadership, providing financial guidance for strategic planning, investment decisions, and organizational priorities.
  • Architect and implement financial infrastructure, processes, and frameworks to support YouVersion’s continued growth and international expansion, including entity structure, compliance requirements, and cross-border financial management.
  • Own the evaluation of financial impact for strategic initiatives, delivering scenario analysis, risk assessments, and recommendations to inform executive decision-making.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, proactively delivering insights that drive long-term sustainability and maximize ministry impact.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Own and communicate the financial narrative for YouVersion by analyzing income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow trends and translating them into actionable insights for leadership.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial updates and strategic briefings to executive leadership,highlighting performance drivers, variances, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead complex and ad hoc financial analysis to support high-impact strategic initiatives, partnerships, and investment decisions.
  • Cross-functional Partnership
  • Partner with Finance Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to develop financial models, forecasts, and scenario plans aligned with YouVersion’s strategic priorities.
  • Partner with YouVersion Donor Development to interpret giving trends, assess revenue forecasts, and inform financial planning.
  • Serve as a financial thought partner to functional leaders, equipping them to understand the financial implications of their strategies and initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset with a high attention to detail and ability to translate numbers into actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complex financial concepts and foster strong partnerships.
  • Ability to self-motivate, take initiative, make independent decisions, and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate vision into actionable financial strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Utilizes strong critical thinking skills to analyze complex financial data, identify underlying issues, and develop effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis, with expertise in financial systems and tools.
  • Exercises sound judgment and decision-making, demonstrating discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance, financial analysis, or accounting roles.
  • Experience supporting complex, multi-entity, or international organizations preferred.
  • Experience influencing senior leadership and driving strategic financial decisions preferred.
  • Nonprofit or ministry experience a plus.
