Our client, based in Cornwall, is seeking an experienced Adult Social Worker to join their Mental Health Team.
This role focuses on supporting adults with complex and enduring mental health needs, including individuals presenting with dual diagnosis, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma, personality disorders, and forensic backgrounds. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions while effectively assessing and managing risk. Responsibilities

- →Manage a caseload of adults with severe and complex mental health needs, delivering outcome-focused and person-centred interventions
- →Undertake Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews, and care planning
- →Complete robust risk assessments and implement effective risk management strategies in high-risk cases
- →Work with individuals presenting with dual diagnosis, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, trauma, personality disorders, and forensic backgrounds
- →Support cases involving MAPPA and forensic histories through effective multi-agency collaboration
- →Operate within key legislative frameworks including the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, and Human Rights Act 1998
- →Complete Mental Capacity Assessments and contribute to Best Interests decision-making processes
- →Lead and contribute to safeguarding activity, including Section 42 enquiries and Safeguarding Adults procedures
- →Undertake Court of Protection work, including report writing and attendance
- →Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams including health, housing, and partner agencies
- →Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records and reports
- →Demonstrate professional curiosity, sound judgement, and evidence-based decision-making
- →Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience, including completion of ASYE
- →Strong experience within Adult Social Care and Mental Health Services
- →Experience working with complex mental health cases, including high-risk individuals
- →Experience in care management, safeguarding, and multi-agency working
- →Experience with court processes and Court of Protection work
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Mental Health Act 1983 (MHA)
- Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA)
- Care Act 2014
- Human Rights Act 1998 (HRA)
- Safeguarding Adults legislation (including Section 42)
- Strong risk assessment and risk management capability
- Ability to manage complex and high-risk caseloads autonomously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with vulnerable individuals
- Ability to work collaboratively within MDT and multi-agency environments
- High standard of report writing and case recording, including legal documentation
- Demonstrates emotional resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations
- Strong analytical skills and ability to apply professional judgement
