Liquid Personnel is seeking Adult Social Workers to join its client’s Mental Health team, based in Neath Port Talbot.
This role sits within a Community Mental Health Team in Neath Port Talbot, supporting adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties. The postholder will undertake complex assessments, coordinate care and support, and contribute to statutory mental health functions under the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act 2014. An AMHP qualification is highly desirable due to the team’s statutory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Carry out comprehensive mental health assessments in line with the Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act 2014, ensuring a strengths‑based, person‑centred approach.
- →Undertake Care and Treatment Plan (CTP) responsibilities under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010, ensuring individuals receive coordinated, outcome‑focused support.
- →Provide AMHP duties (if qualified), including Mental Health Act assessments, coordinating applications for detention, and ensuring legal safeguards are upheld.
- →Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues including psychiatrists, CPNs, psychologists, occupational therapists, and third‑sector partners to deliver holistic community mental health support.
- →Assess and manage risk, including suicide risk, self‑neglect, exploitation, and safeguarding concerns, following Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
- →Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and contribute to best‑interest decisions where individuals lack capacity.
- →Support crisis intervention and relapse prevention, ensuring timely responses to individuals experiencing mental health deterioration.
- →Advocate for service users, ensuring their rights, wishes, and wellbeing remain central to all planning and intervention.
- →Maintain accurate, timely case records and produce high‑quality reports in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
- →Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and continuous improvement within the CMHT.
Requirements
~1 min read- Professional Qualification: MA, BA, BSc in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, or CQSW.
- Registration: Must be registered with Social Care Wales.
- AMHP qualification: Highly desirable; willingness to undertake AMHP duties if qualified.
- Experience: Substantial experience working in mental health settings, preferably within community teams.
- Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Social Services and Well‑being (Wales) Act 2014, safeguarding procedures, and the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
- Skills: Excellent assessment, communication, and risk‑management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary environment.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is often required for community visits.
