Social Worker – Looked After Children
Quick Summary
Qualified Social Worker: You must be registered with Social Work England. Experience: Proven experience working with children in care or looked-after children (LAC).
Liquid Personnel is currently recruiting two experienced Social Workers to join its client's Children and Young People in Care (CaYPiC) service within a supportive and high‑performing Local Authority in Wolverhampton. You will be joining a stable service with permanent management and a settled workforce, offering continuity and security rarely found in temporary roles.
Why join this team:
Manageable caseloads with averages of 18–19 and a commitment to reducing these further once posts are filled. Work within a service led by a permanent and supportive management team. Focus on long‑term outcomes for children and young people in care within a relationship‑based practice model. A genuinely long‑term assignment, providing consistency and job security.
What will your responsibilities be?
In this role, you will,
- Undertake direct work with children using creative tools to capture their wishes and feelings, including Life Story work
- Develop, implement, and review care and permanency plans focused on long‑term stability
- Carry out statutory visits and ongoing assessments for children in foster and residential placements
- Monitor the quality of care provided and ensure children’s safety, wellbeing, and development
- Lead multi‑agency planning, including PEPs and health reviews, working closely with education and health partners
- Manage and support family contact, promoting positive and safe family relationships
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Social Worker: You must be registered with Social Work England.
- Experience: Proven experience working with children in care or looked-after children (LAC).
- Commitment: A professional who is dedicated to improving the life chances of young people and can hit the ground running.
- Communication: Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, foster carers, and multidisciplinary partners.
Reasonable Adjustments:
If you consider yourself to have a disability or require any reasonable adjustment during the recruitment process or within the workplace, please highlight this at the earliest opportunity by contacting our team. With this information, we will provide appropriate support to you throughout the process and into your work placement.
We are unable to support or accept applications from candidates who are residents within the Red or Amber list of the Code of practice for the international recruitment of health and social care personnel in England, based on the World Health Organisation (WHO) Workforce Support and Safeguard List.
