• Working Pattern: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus 1 week)
• Salary: £8.00p/h increased to NMW after 12 months

Role Overview

At Wrenn School, you will gain valuable hands-on experience supporting teaching, learning and participation in sport within a busy secondary school environment. Working alongside experienced PE staff, you will help students develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment of physical activity both in lessons and through extracurricular opportunities.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for sport with a rewarding career in education. You will support PE lessons, school sports events, clubs and fixtures, while developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to become an effective Teaching Assistant with a specialism in sport and physical activity. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive structured training, mentoring and practical experience, helping you build a strong foundation for future careers in education, teaching, coaching, sports development or youth work.

Your Training Plan

• This specialist pathway combines the nationally recognised Teaching Assistant apprenticeship with sports-focused learning, helping apprentices develop the confidence and skills to support PE lessons, school sport and wider pupil development.
• Approximately 19 months expected duration, plus End Point Assessment.
• Learn how to support teaching and learning, promote positive behaviour, contribute to pupil wellbeing and encourage participation, achievement and healthy lifestyles through physical activity.
• Develop practical skills in supporting PE lessons, sports activities and inclusive participation for all learners.
• Receive regular coaching, mentoring and feedback from experienced school staff.
• Complete training through LMP Education, with dedicated off-the-job learning as part of your apprenticeship programme.
• Gain valuable experience that can support progression into education, sport, coaching or further study.

• GCSE English and Maths at Grade 3 or above (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards these qualifications where required.

Wrenn is a vibrant learning community across two campuses. Our Doddington Road site supports Key Stage 3 students (ages 11–14) with a nurturing transition from primary school, while London Road provides a mature environment for Key Stages 4 and 5 (ages 14–18).
