In this senior advisory role, you will provide strategic policy and political insight, working closely with elected Members, senior officers and external partners to ensure effective decision-making and delivery. You will help shape policy, coordinate Cabinet business, develop high-quality briefings, and ensure priorities are translated into tangible outcomes for residents.

Interviews will take place in person between 17th and 28th August. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice and support to Cabinet Members.
  • Build strong relationships across the Council and with external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate Cabinet business, reports, briefings and forward planning.
  • Influence policy development and delivery in line with the Mayor's priorities.
  • Identify and manage emerging issues, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop clear and compelling briefings, messaging and strategic communications.

 

  • Strong understanding of local government, governance and the political environment.
  • Experience advising senior leaders in a strategic or political setting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.
  • Highly organised, proactive and solutions-focused.
