We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Course Leader of English to help shape outstanding adult learning provision.  

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced  educator with strong subject expertise, a passion for adult education, and a commitment to learner achievement. 

About the Role 

As a Course Leader, you will provide specialist curriculum expertise, deliver high-quality teaching and learning, and support tutors within your curriculum area to achieve excellent learner outcomes. You will play a key role in curriculum innovation, quality improvement, and learner success. 

Working closely with Curriculum Managers and Quality colleagues, you will ensure courses are engaging, inclusive, compliant, and responsive to learner needs while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning programmes within your specialist subject area. 

• Inspire learners through innovative and engaging teaching approaches. 

• Support learner progression, achievement, retention and attendance. 

• Model excellent teaching practice and support curriculum development. 

• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and awarding body requirements. 

• Work collaboratively with tutors, managers and quality teams to drive continuous improvement. 

• Monitor learner progress and deliver effective pastoral support. 

• Contribute to curriculum planning, self-assessment and service development activities. 

• Promote equality, diversity, safeguarding and learner wellbeing in all aspects of your work. 

• Support the use of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment.  

About You 

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: 

Essential Qualifications 

• Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) relevant to the curriculum area. 

• Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, or equivalent. 

• Commitment to ongoing professional development.  

Experience and Knowledge 

• Significant teaching expertise and excellent understanding of effective pedagogy. 

• Experience of delivering high-quality learning in adult education or a similar environment. 

• Proven success in improving learner achievement and outcomes. 

• Experience of curriculum planning, lesson design and assessment. 

• Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and the Education Inspection Framework. 

• Experience using technology to enhance learning in classroom, online and blended settings. 

• Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and inclusion. 

Skills and Attributes 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

• Strong organisational and planning abilities. 

• Ability to motivate, inspire and support both learners and colleagues. 

• Commitment to learner-centred practice and outstanding educational experiences. 

• Ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively.
