As Head of Mayor’s Office, you will:
- Lead and manage the Mayor’s Office, providing professional and comprehensive support to the Mayor and Cabinet Members.
- Provide strategic policy and administrative advice to the Mayor and oversee the commissioning of work on the Mayor’s behalf.
- Ensure the Mayor is fully briefed and prepared for meetings, engagements and key decision-making forums.
- Oversee the management of mayoral correspondence, casework and enquiries, ensuring a responsive and resident-focused service.
- Develop strong working relationships across the organisation, supporting effective collaboration between the Mayor’s Office, Cabinet Members, Chief Executive’s Office and council services.
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team, embedding continuous improvement and excellent service standards.
We are looking for someone who:
- Understands the relationship between politics and administration and can work effectively in a politically sensitive environment.
- Has experience of leading teams and developing high-quality support services.
- Demonstrates excellent judgement, diplomacy and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
- Is an outstanding communicator with strong influencing and relationship-building skills.
- Can lead service improvements and design innovative approaches that enhance effectiveness and outcomes.
