We are looking for a proactive and resident-focused Resettlement and Support Officer to help households living in temporary accommodation successfully move on to suitable, sustainable housing options.
In this role, you will work directly with residents to identify and overcome barriers to move-on, providing tailored advice and support around housing opportunities, welfare benefits, employment, budgeting, and accessing relevant support services. You will develop and maintain move-on plans, promote independence, and work collaboratively with internal teams, landlords, housing providers, and partner agencies to secure positive housing outcomes.
The successful candidate will have experience working with vulnerable households, a good understanding of housing and homelessness services, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will be passionate about helping residents achieve long-term housing stability while reducing reliance on temporary accommodation.

We are seeking at least 2 dedicated Resettlement and Support Officers to join our Housing Needs service. These are permanent posts and one post will be 12 months fixed term contract with possibility of extension.

Newham is one of London’s most vibrant and diverse boroughs, home to a young population and a rich cultural heritage. We are committed to putting people at the heart of everything we do, and we’re proud to offer inclusive services that reflect the needs of our community.

The Resettlement and Support team has been recently established to assess the needs of individuals and families in temporary accommodation with a focus on achieving positive outcomes and enabling their move into suitable long term housing and to provide support to residents in nightly paid accommodation.

You will work directly with homeless households in temporary accommodation, helping them access support from local voluntary, community and faith organisations, schools, health services, and adult social care. Your goal will be to empower residents to move into suitable, settled accommodation—whether through social housing or the private rented sector.
