RReporting to the Director of Enrollment and Advising Services the LCCC Career and Academic Advisement Professionals have a variety of duties that contribute to the educational advisement, career and employment readiness of students in defined categories.  The CAAP will help students determine, discover, design and create a pathway to their academic career and completion goals.  The incumbent will take a holistic approach to the development of the student from initial admission, placement, academic advising, and knowledge of financial aid, success coaching, and career coaching.  Emphasis will include knowledge of experiential learning and other proven strategies to create a student experience that culminates in degree completion and career transition. In addition the Career Academic Advising Professional will assist students in creating an individualized career and academic plan that details courses required to meet the student’s completion goals.

Working with students in a proactive and student-centered approach with excellent customer service skills is a daily part of the position. One evening a week is required and some Saturdays during peak Enrollment season. 

Required: Bachelor's degree; Computer literacy; Proficiency in word processing; Must be well-organized, energetic and amenable to working extensively with students.

Established in 1963, Lorain County Community College is the first community college in Ohio with a permanent campus. LCCC is a dynamic, student-centered college intentionally designed to support individuals with balancing multiple roles on their path to college completion. 85% of LCCC students work while attending college, with majority working at least half-time. The average age of LCCC’s students is 24, and many bring life experiences that include caring for dependents, serving in the military, or completing some prior college. Over 80% of LCCC students received financial assistance through grants and scholarships, and LCCC has been nationally recognized for holistic, fully integrated services and commitment to student success.
